On Sunday 1 October I will be publishing an article 'Ten Emerging Composers' which highlights ten SA brass writers whose music has been introduced to the world in the past ten years. It'll be opportunity to celebrate these composers and the world of SA banding in general.

Soon to be released at the National Brass Band Finals on Saturday 14 October, 'Endeavour - a weekend with the ISB' is the International Staff Band's latest 'repertoire' album - a selection of music they have featured over the past year or so. Leanne and myself are looking forward to joining the staff team at the USA Eastern Salvation Army's Territorial Music Camp in a couple of week's time. The event is held at Star Lake Camp and Conference Centre in the foothills of the picturesque Ramapo Mountains, New Jersey.

I just wanted to add my own words of tribute to Simon, who passed away on Friday.

Simon and I first met in the 1990s when he began working at 101 Queen Victoria Street for the Salvation Army’s UK Music Editorial department, which at that time was under the headship of Richard Phillips.
