The Name (2003)

General Series 2033 (publ. 2005)
Duration: approx. 4:30

In this piece the well-known praise chorus Blessed be the Name of the Lord gets an unusual minor-key rock treatment.

Boscombe Band have given this a fine reading on their CD - I am very grateful. Regent Hall Band also used the piece on their innovative DVD Expressions - complete with march movement... most impressive.

The words to the chorus are:

Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be the name of the Lord most High
Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be the name of the Lord most High

The name of the Lord is a strong tower
The righteous run into it and they are saved
The name of the Lord is a strong tower
The righteous run into it and they are saved
